Celebrate the joy of making music as part of Make Music Day, the worldwide participatory music celebration held on the summer solstice. You’ll find performances in public spaces across the country. You are encouraged to register to perform, no matter what your age or musical ability. Part of the “happening” will include “Baby You,” a 34 meter-long hot air balloon in the shape of a sleeping child, symbolizing the power of joy, wonder, and possibilities within each of us. Small groups of registered local amateur musicians will perform, with no amplification and no stage. Just before sunset, Baby You will appear, while an a cappella choir sings a special piece commissioned for the occasion.
