“What is Deaf Trivia?” >It’s regular trivia held at your local bar. The twist? It’s held entirely in American Sign Language (ASL)! No speaking allowed!
“Are all the questions about Deaf culture or sign language?” >While we do include a few questions throughout the game relating to Deaf culture, this is just your average general trivia. If that’s your jam, you belong here!
“Do I have to know sign language to play?” >Nope! Our goal is to make bar trivia inclusive for everyone. If you don’t know ASL, no worries! Thanks to UW-Milwaukee’s Interpreter Training Program, we have exceptional student interpreters who interpret the full 2-hour event. Additionally, we have a PowerPoint with the questions/answers and other info about the game.
“If I don’t know ASL, how am I supposed to communicate?” >Even if you know some ASL, understanding other people can be a challenge. We provide notebook paper for writing back and forth if signing isn’t an option! You can also use this strategy if you want to keep your team discussions a little more private from the neighboring tables
