The Chuck LaPaglia Jazz Film Series features the screening of jazz-related movies coupled with live performances by local jazz combos playing tunes related to the featured film at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts on the third Thursday of every month. The series continues on October 16, 2025 with the screening of “Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool.” The award-winning Milwaukee Jazz Institute “A” Train Ensemble, under the direction of Mark Davis, will perform at the October 16, 2025 showing, Future offerings will include “Bird,” “Lady Sings The Blues,” “I Called Him Morgan,” “Mo’ Better Blues,” “The Cotton Club,” “‘Round Midnight” and “Born to Be Blue.” The series is dedicated to Chuck LaPaglia, who as owner of the Jazz Gallery, produced spectacular concerts featuring internationally-known artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Betty Carter, Freddie Hubbard, Stan Getz, Max Roach, Jimmy Smith, Sun Ra, Mose Allison, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Manty Ellis and many more.
