Reclaiming Running

Are you curious about running but unsure where to begin? Maybe you’ve tried run clubs and felt intimidated or left behind by pace groups. Or maybe running has been tied to punishment, pressure, or weight loss. This series invites you to step outside of those narratives and begin reclaiming running as your own. Reclaiming Running is an 8-week, HAESâ„¢-aligned series designed to help participants build a sustainable, self-defined relationship with running, walking, and jogging. Together, we will gently break down the barriers that can make running feel inaccessible, while introducing foundational skills such as warm-ups, mobility, pacing, and supportive cross-training. Each session offers space for both movement and reflection, allowing participants to explore what running can look and feel like in their own bodies. This series also includes an optional, gradual 5K training progression leading up to the Run for Love 5K on June 6 at 9:00 am. Current Wellness will have a team participating, and those who wish are welcome to join. Participation in the race is entirely optional. The training plan is offered as a supportive structure, not an expectation. We will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm. Each session will begin with grounding, warm-up, and discussion, followed by an outdoor walk/run. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace. This series is especially supportive for those who are new to running, returning after time away, or who prefer a pace slower than 13 minutes per mile. Reclaiming Running is not about becoming a certain kind of runner. It is about creating space to listen inward, to build trust with your body, and to define running on your own terms. The course is led by Julia Carter, LCSWA and RRCA-certified run coach specializing in therapeutic approaches to movement and body awareness. Dates: April 15th-June 3rd (Wednesdays) Time: 6:15pm-7:30pm Cost: $200/8 weeks (weekly payment plan available – email [emailprotected] to register with this option) Sign up here!
