Friday January 12, 2024 – Dan Tyminski Band – AJ Fletcher Theater Dan Tyminski is arguably the most recognizable voice in bluegrass. His voice famously accompanies George Clooney’s performance of the Stanley Brothers’ classic song “I am a Man of Constant Sorrow” in the film O Brother, Where Art Thou, and his vocal collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii on the song “Hey, Brother” was a global hit, having been streamed more than 1 billion times to date. PineCone audiences first met Dan when he was playing guitar and mandolin for Alison Krauss and Union Station. The Dan Tyminski Band is Maddie Denton (fiddle), Jason Davis (banjo), Grace Davis (bass) and Gaven Largent (dobro). The evening features an opening set by The Gospel Jubilators . You can see photos from Dan Tyminski’s PineCone shows over the years here . Friday January 26, 2024 – Tony Trischka’s EarlJam – AJ Fletcher Theater Tony Trischka is one of the most influential banjo player in the roots music world. For this performance Tony will be honoring the music of North Carolina legend Earl Scruggs. He is a pioneer of the three-finger banjo style that is the signature sound of bluegrass. The show traces Scruggs musical life from childhood his final days. Tony’s band features Brittany Haas on fiddle, mandolinist Jacob Jollif, Michael Daves on vocals and guitar and bassist Jared Engel. Friday February 23, 2024 – Appalachian Road Show – AJ Fletcher Theater Appalachian Road Show invites us to come and sit a spell as the five-piece band weaves together songs and stories emanating from the mountains and hollers of North Carolina and Virginia, to the coal mines of West Virginia and Kentucky. The band was nominated for the coveted “Entertainer of the Year” Award at the 2023 IBMA Music Awards. Friday March 1, 2024 – Balsam Range – AJ Fletcher Theater Balsam Range is a PineCone favorite. They’ve played in nearly every setting we’ve got, from the festival mainstage and Down Home Concert series to pick-up sessions in the hotel lobby during World of Bluegrass. As a band, they are quintessentially North Carolina. They make their home in Haywood County, North Carolina. It’s a close-knit community that sits in between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. That experience comes out in their music and songwriting. Family, faith, work and home are common themes. You can see photos from their PineCone shows over the years here . Friday March 15, 2024 – Dom Flemons & Shultz’s Dream – AJ Fletcher Theater Shultz’s Dream is a project commissioned by PineCone to pay tribute to Arnold Shultz, one of the founders of bluegrass. The band is led by Dom Flemons (The American Songster). He is joined by Dante’ Pope (of Old Crow Medicine Show), Brian Farrow (of Ganstagrass), IBMA Award winning banjo player Tray Wellington and Shultz expert Dr. Richard Brown. You can see video, photos and read more about the project here . Friday April 5, 2024 – Bella White – AJ Fletcher Theater A truly original new voice in songwriting, Bella White creates an undeniable magic by mining the rare duality at the heart of her artistry. Although she hails from the Canadian city of Calgary, the 22-year-old singer/multi-instrumentalist grew up on the classic country and old-time music she first discovered thanks to her father, a Virginia native who played in bluegrass bands all throughout her childhood. On her debut album Just Like Leaving, White balances her old-soul musicality with a lyrical perspective that’s entirely of-the-moment, embracing an intense self-awareness as she documents her coming-of-age in real-time. “I was very young when I wrote this album,” says the Victoria, BC-based artist. “All of these songs came from processing my feelings right as I was experiencing certain things for the first time in my life.” Friday May 3, 2024 – The Red Clay Ramblers 50ish Anniversary – AJ Fletcher Theater The Red Clay Ramblers formed roughly 50 years ago and remain one of the longest running string bands from the Piedmont of North Carolina. The Tony Award winning band have a wide-ranging repertoire that reflects their roots in old time Appalachian music, bluegrass, country, rock, New Orleans jazz, gospel and the American musical. This special anniversary show is expected to be a magical evening. Add to calendar Google Calendar iCalendar Outlook 365 Outlook Live
