Calling all orchestral musicians!
HSO is a community orchestra made up of JHU students, faculty and staff, alumni, and Baltimore-area community members.
Audition sign-ups for the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra 2024-2025 season open on August 1, with auditions taking place August 29-31.
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Music Director: Jed Gaylin
The Symphony Orchestra is the flagship symphonic orchestra, with a typical ensemble size of 80-90 musicians for each concert performing standard and contemporary symphonic literature including commissions, concertos, and opera.
Rehearsals: Monday evenings, 7-9:30PM–4 concerts/year
Location: Shriver Hall, JHU Homewood Campus
CONCERT ORCHESTRA:
The Concert Orchestra is a smaller ensemble, with 40-50 musicians for each concert, performing symphonic and chamber orchestra repertoire. The Concert Orchestra emphasizes training, with a focus on building musicianship and ensemble skills.
Rehearsals: Select Saturday & Sunday afternoons, 2-4:30PM–2 concerts/year
Location: Interfaith Center, JHU Homewood Campus
